Our big decision on the proposed 2009 mini-reunion has
been made! We
received 35 responses from out-of-DC-area classmates - 22 yes, 3
maybe/probably, and 10 no. Add the yeses to the DC-area number of 12 to 16
and we have a good enough response to say "Yes we're going to do it!". We
were briefed on several good hotel research proposals from Bill Foster, Jack
McDonough, Hector Negroni, and John Kohout. Hotel prices (including tax)
ranged from $109 to $200. After considering all the proposals' advantages
and disadvantages (location, Metro, restaurants, suitability, etc.), we
decided on the Fairview Park Marriott Hotel - located near the Metro, about
1/4 mile inside the beltway on Route 50. The hotel price will be $133 per
night. Assignments to plan and implement the event are as follows:
Lowell - P.O.C./Communications/Scribe; Bill Foster - Director of Hotel
Arrangements; Hector - Director of Catering; John Kohout - Director of
Transportation (primarily for the Navy game). Sometime tomorrow, I will be
sending an email again to the GTN which will relay our decision and give
some more specifics on why we selected this hotel and what we discussed for
daily and evening activities. You can go online for info and photo tour of
the Fairview Park Marriott (Falls Church, VA) if you are interested. We expect
to have another luncheon in August (20th or 27th) to
talk some more about the mini-reunion.
Cheers! Lowell
