HD Disc Information (Please read this before playing an HD disc.)

This DVD disc contains High-Definition video. You can play this disc on your computer.


Please read the following information about HD discs and about playing High-Definition video, before playing an HD disc.

Note: This disc cannot be played on DVD players or by DVD player software.

If this window was displayed automatically when you inserted this disc into the drive, install the following programs, which are required to play HD discs:
  • Sony MPEG2-TS Splitter
    To install Sony MPEG2-TS Splitter:
    Open the "TsSplit" folder in this disc from Windows Explorer and double-click (or click) "setup.exe".
    The Sony MPG2-TS Splitter installation window appears. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation of the program.
  • An MPEG2 decoder supporting Hi-Definition video (often included with DVD player software)
    The MPEG2 decoder installed with InterVideo WinDVD Ver.5.0 can be used. For more information, refer to "2. Required programs for HD discs", later in this document.

1. Recommended system requirements for HD discs

OS:Windows XP Professional / Home Edition / Media Center Edition
CPU:Intel Pentium 4 Processor 2.80 GHz or higher
Intel Pentium M Processor 1.60 GHz or higher
System Memory:512 MB or more
DVD Drive:8x maximum DVD playback or faster (*1)

*1 If this disc is created with a rewritable disc (for example, DVD-RW or DVD+RW disc), it may not be played properly even if the DVD drive supports 8x maximum DVD playback or faster speed.


Notes:
HD discs may not be able to be played properly, if the chipset includes a graphics accelerator.

3. How to play HD discs

This disc begins to play automatically when inserted into the drive. The following methods can also be used to begin playing an HD disc.

4. Troubleshooting

SymptomsCause/Remedy
Cannot successfully play the HD disc.Failure to play an HD disc can be caused by several factors:
  • Your computer does not meet the system requirements listed in "1. Recommended system requirements for HD discs", earlier in the documents.
  • Your computer does not have installed the programs required to play HD discs.
    Refer to "2. Required programs for HD discs", earlier in the document.
  • This disc was created using rewritable disc (for example, a DVD-RW or DVD+RW disc).
    An HD disc created using a rewritable disc may not play properly even if the DVD drive meets the 8x maximum DVD playing speed requirement. (*2) In this situation, copy the entire contents of this disc to your hard disk drive, and play the content from there by double-clicking (or clicking) "playlist.wpl" in the "VideoFiles" folder.
    *2: When playing a rewritable disc, DVD read speed may become slower, depending on the DVD drive.
When playing an HD disc in Windows Media Player, a message "The selected file has an extension that is not recognized by Window Media Player" is displayed.Select the Don't ask me again for this extension check box and click the Yes button.
