2003 SKI REUNION
The location was Ogden Utah—not one of the glamour cities of the state—but the ski areas are close:
Our Mississippi guest was a little confused about what the natives looked like
but he quickly adapted to the fun of fun in the snow. Cross country is more work than I remembered forty five years ago at the Academy—but we enjoyed the solitude of a day in the snow.
…but the real action was on the mountain and our alpine leader had the group had the hardy ready to go….
It was tough to get some out of the lodge—it is amazing what $50 million will do in building a five star restaurant (two in fact) at a ski area. I was amazed at the reaction of the former “fighter pilots” to the restrooms as well. A marble bathroom with a hardwood door is quite a change from standard “stall.”
Some, however, even with choices of gourmet Caesar chicken salad—chose the cinnamon bun route. We missed the big bite picture—but a “little bit of sugar made the day go down.”
You may wonder why the guy in the middle is looking so happy—I think he is the newly wed of the class—at least pretty new. Claire Carling joined us for dinner with Mary Kay, his new wife. Claire claims retirement is happening this year with adventures on the agenda…
And we followed with the tradition photo of the group…
Join us next year – weekend after President’s Day – in Utah. |
